Yummy Rhum is a small Perth based company and have recently launched in Australia a line of infused rums, or ‘rhum arrangé’ from the Isautier distillery in Reunion Island, the Taste of Melbourne will be the first introduction of this delicious product to the people of Melbourne and we a looking forward to give you some yummy tasting.
Our love for rum, delicious tropical fruits, culture and tradition has kept us working hard all these years to bring to you the most gorgeous golden macerated white rum called Rhum Arrangé.
Rhum arrangé means is “Re-arranged rum” It is made by macerating over proofed white rhums with fruits or spices. Over the years, it has evolved to become one of the iconic part of Reunion Island traditions.
It was originally discovered by merchants and pirates who used rhum to preserve tropical fruits, spices, plants on as they transported them between islands.
As the fruits sloshed around on the rough seas, the travellers noticed something amazing. Not only were the fruits being preserved, but they were leaving behind their natural flavours infused in the rhum. Merchants began selling their infused rhums to locals, and developed their recipes. The culture of ‘rhum arrange’ was born.
To this day, you will see fruits and spices sitting in jars of rhum, infusing for weeks, months or years at a time. Rhum Arrangé has become a beverage to be shared with loved ones for all occasions.
Keeping the traditions of Rhum Arrangé the Isautier family found a way to commercialize what would rather take lots of practice and month/years of maceration time to only having to open a bottle and poor it straight into a glass.
